I bought the first Long lonely road, read it, and bought the next ten books in series. I couldn't put them down and since they are rather short, I went through all of them in about 3 days (I'm a fast reader). I absolutely LOVE John Long Walker and his wives. In a post apocalyptic world, John brings people together and finds a wonderful home. It seems the experts in all fields fall into his group. His salvage teams are remarkable, and a good life is had by all. But all is not calm and peaceful in the canyons!!!! It seems if it isn't a comedy at home, it is savage wars. John just wants to ride his mule, love his wives and kids and eat and drink beer. Charlie, his Navaho companion and partner in crime is hilarious, when he isn't sending scouts out to root out the evil guys.They find planes and choppers to aide in the battle. They collect everything and anything. Two of his wives, Sandy and May are gunslingers, pure and simple, I think he referred to them as "chain lightning" they are so fast, and greedy when it comes to weapons or "loot". And then there are the "good wives" who are witches of a sort and Charlie's mom "old woman" who is the head witch and advisor If you enjoy after SHTF novels, these are a must read. They are funny, and sad and I have now purchased all 65 books in the series, and look for anything else this author writes. Oh, I forgot the Portals that are discovered to other worlds, and a lot of misadventure with ancient peoples, horrible beasts and Mongol hordes. Yes old John has a very interesting life :) My only complaint is they are to short and occasionally I have to re-read a sentence because this guy writes so fast that he fumble fingers his words, but this slight thing doesn't take away from my enjoyment in the least. Hope that last part doesn't offend the author.

This has been the best SHTF series I have read love John and his whole crew please keep writing about them I look forward to a new book each month thank you
TJ spins another great story. Love the use of the portals as they can open up many more adventures. Loved the idea of going to Europe. Like John grab a coffee and settle in for another great ride. Keep them coming, they are family and the highlight of the month.
I love the canyons and the people who live there. I love the fact the story goes on and on just like life. I really am glad you continue to write cause I will continue to read, I feel like they are friends. Looking forward to how they destroy the beasts
I am the one TJ referred to as saying that LLR might be going on too long. Friends, did indeed, very gently tell me I was full of it. To them and especially to TJ I sincerely appologize. It obviously, DID NOT. Besides , I too would miss both TJ personally and his characters as lost friends and family. No to mention his other readers. Including the other Jim's.
If the book has TJ Reeder on it, all's good. Never a dull story never a dull character, thank you again for a great time. For someone new---spend the loot and get the whole collection. As always the only thing to dislike about this book is it has to end.
I start these books thinking I am gonna take my time with this one and installation hen it is like I cannot escape till it is all done. I forgive TJ for making this a "cliffhanger". Now I can't wait till the next one.
I don't know if it was a coincidence or if TJ actually reads our reviews last book I reviewed I had mentioned I was losing track of the kids - John's kids - and lo and behold - in this one he sort of lined them up and named them! ) At least the ones who have names so far - I 'm not sure the twins do.
All that being said, another great installment - another portal into an amazing situation and another addition to the family! Love the canyon, love the stories and always grab the next installment as soon as it shows up - put my feet up, grab a glass of wine and dig in to enjoy. Keep up the good work!
