Being one who has back problems, I wouldn't have been able to continue down the trail Alix challenged herself to complete. I would've turned around and privately nursed my pride with a hot cup of tea. But then again . . . I wouldn't have met Kynan. And who can resist a sexy man who can morph into a protective dog?I enjoyed Alix and Kynan's chemistry. They are great characters who I would love to see again in a novel. The growing tension of danger around Alix was also enjoyable. I just wish we could've witnessed the climax from Kynan's perspective.
If you love paranormal romances, and short stories, this is a story you should definitely read.

“Aspen Shift” by Lindsay McFerrin is part of the ‘Frost Bite’ series and tells the tale of sommelier (wine steward) Alix Godard who has relocated from Paris to Aspen. Kynan Byrne rescues her but also feels driven to protect her from an unknown threat. Alix is shocked to discover that there are beings that she never dreamed of in the woods around her new home and for some reason she has come to the attention of two different kinds of shifters, now she has to survive long enough to make sense of her discovery.
This fascinating paranormal short story introduces a charismatic being who is a Cynan-Shifter who can transform from a human into a dog-like being and gives a brief view of the world he occupies. The writing is crisp and enjoyable but the reactions of the characters are a little difficult to accept as logical progressions although I realize that part of the problem is the limitation imposed by the brevity of the story. I would love to see a longer and more well-developed novella or even better, a novel set in this world from this talented author. An entertaining quick read.

This imaginative world of dog- vs. wolf-shifters is mesmerizing! Loved the chemistry between Kynan and Alix. I think this would be a great book series. More!!
The first chapters would make a great introduction for a full novel. The characters are likeable, well developed, but the story ended too soon. I think readers would like to get to know more about the "werewolves" and the girl involved. Disappointing when it abruptly ended.
This paranormal/romance mix was an entertaining read with sympathetic characters. I liked the shifter aspect and the connection between the hero and heroine. I wish the author had lingered more over certain aspects of the story--it felt as though it moved a little too quickly. But I enjoyed the author's style and would certainly read more by her.

<strong>Great quick read</strong>
Quick read with a glitzy resort in Aspen, a woman from Paris (Alix) and a mysterious man who also shape-shifts into a dog, against the villainous were-wolf who imprinted on Alix, make for a lot of punch in just a few words.
